Parent's feedback on Reading...
READING
October 2015
As a governing body we wanted to find out parents / carers views on reading.
During parents’ evening we asked parents, what do you enjoy reading at home with your child?
This is a flavour of responses:
Funny books
Fact books
Frank Lampard
David Walliams
Tom Gates
Roald Dahl
Julia Donaldson
Beatrix Potter
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Some prefer reading on tablets while others love books
Bed time was the favourite time to read but many parents said that time and tiredness after work, school and hobbies made reading at home difficult.
Some parents commented that getting children to sit and concentrate for an extended time was challenging.
Other parents made reading a priority and set aside time each day.
Perhaps doing what you can rather than what you can’t is a helpful way forward. Reading for a short time or reading a few pages rather than a whole book will still be of benefit to your child.
